1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?    My media product is a fashion magazine and to create my fashion magazine I looked at real magazines and analysed what each magazine had and it helped me create my magazine. My layout is similar to a real fashion magazine and it looks realistic too. My media product does have the conventions of a real media product as it has mostly everything a fashion magazine would have. My magazine contains a fair amount of cover lines and has a nice clear masthead. My masthead is eye catching as it pops out to my reader. I have used a small graphic to make it look even more realistic with a little help from some fashion magazines that I found online which helped me think what sort of graphic I would like to have on my magazine and how it would fit with my house style. 2. This is my final product that I have created using Photoshop.

These are my test shots that i took before i started to take my magazine pictures. As I was taking these i thought about the angles and poses that my picture should have. I thought about the lighting as well and made sure that my models facial features were clear to see. Most of these shots were a little of having fun and trying out new ways that would probably be good for my magazine pictures. These shots were taken in the studio with limited lighting but it was great to explore the shots that I took as I got experience by taking pictures with the school camera and to try and experiment with different angles and shots.

My flat plan looks very simple as it does not have a lot of designs on it. I am intending on making my magazine look simple like an average magazine cover. My model will be sitting and her head will cover a small part of the masthead. I will add a graphic to make my magazine stand out to my reader and my cover lines will be short and simple for the reader to quickly read and understand what my magazine is about within a few seconds. My model will take up the space of the whole magazine so the outfit of the model can be seen and that will also give the reader a hint of what sort of fashion my reader would be looking at. At the lower part of the magazine, I will ave the name of my model and a pull quote that will also be attractive to my reader

PRELIM -Statement of Intent I intend to produce the front cover and contents page of a fashion magazine. My magazine is targeted at 14-18 year olds that will be interested in fashion. The language that will be used will be a very unique type that will be different to real magazines. The camera shots used on the front cover will be either a close up or a medium shot that will mainly focus on the type of fashion this magazine is based on. This will also make the model look as if she is trying to communicate with the reader from her angle of gaze. The outfit that the model will be wearing on the cover will be from what the audience preferred to see when they answered a few questions on my survey. This will give me a little confidence that my target audience will definitely read my magazine as it’s what my audience wants to see. This is my market research. I have used my survey to collect information about what my target audience is interested in and what they prefer over other stuff. This can give me a better understanding in how they want the layout of my magazine to be like or what colours I want to be used for my magazine and how they would stand out to my target audience. This has improved my knowledge on what 14-18 year old would be interested in reading my magazine because of how it stands out to them with the quality of my work. This will give you a better understanding of what my target audience prefers and would like to see on a magazine. This is what interests them and grabs their attention to read a magazine.

I have created a mood board which includes mastheads from different magazines. These magazine mastheads have different fonts and colours which makes them special as it is what represents the magazine company. The masthead also makes the magazine noticeable because of the fonts or the colours used to make it eye catching. These mastheads have their colours and fonts because of what sort of magazine they are and who their target audience is. The so share some similarities between each other but it is not always clear to see what they are. For example, if you compare GLAMOUR and GQ you can see by the use of different colours they have a different target audience. The GLAMOUR masthead has the colour pink and this colour is a very stereotypical colour for girls. However GQ has a mixture of two colours and they do not use the same colours most of the time. The research that I will be doing for my fashion magazine will be helpful for me to create and design my magazine because it will help me know more about marketing and my audience. I am currently a student in Norbury Manor with students from the ages of 11-16  and sixth form students from the ages of 16-18 and this will enable me to have access to a wide range of different target audiences that will have different opinions about a fashion magazine. This research will help me gather information in what they look for in a fashion magazine and what influences them to buy one. For the research I am making into my fashion magazine, I will be doing a survey and also try to interview students from different age groups. Hi, my name is Anita and welcome to my blog. This blog will consist of my work during GCSE Media Studies. We are currently studying magazines and our brief is to design a magazine front cover and a contents page about fashion for 14-18 years. I have been given the chance to create this from my choice which will feature items and information from my own perspective. I am very excited to start creating the front cover and contents page as I could be able to relate to it since it is a fashion magazine. I am hoping to go into deeper research with my work and can understand the different views of fashion that people have.
